Company History

A-1 Sign opened for business in 1979 when the original owner Charles Labor started producing signs out of his home on Chippewa Avenue in South St. Louis. As business grew so did the need for space, so in 1982 the business moved to its second location at the corner of Russell Boulevard and Gravois in Soulard. Charles was known by all of his customers to be fair and very easy to talk to and absolutely loved making signs. Charles has since passed away but the sign company that he started has strong ties to the St. Louis community which continues on today.

In March of 2010 a partnership was created between two long time friends, each having their own Marketing and Signage backgrounds Brian Miller and Bryan Zang purchased the stock shares and became operating officers of the company to continue on the tradition that St. Louis has known as A-1 Sign. With over 60 years of combined experience that Brian and Bryan brought to A-1 Sign, we have begun offering many more services to our customers that A-1 Sign did not offer before. We continue to grow with new customers, employees, equipment and signage that is viewed not only in St. Louis but all over the state and neighboring states.

In December of 2017 the company purchased a new building location for A-1 Sign / Yesco Sign and Lighting. After a 5 month renovation we have moved our operation into an 18,000+ square foot facility to better serve our customers. Now St. Louis’ Largest city Sign and Lighting company we look forward to serving our existing and new customers from our new location.

With Stability and Growth we look forward to making A-1 Sign a continued staple in the St. Louis community for many years to come!
